Citrus Love
In my Interactive Media class “Communications Lab”, I had to record a short film in less than 15 minutes, and then later edit it as an assignment. The task of suddenly having to use my creativity in such a short period was quite intimidating at first, but I managed to produce something that spoke to my creative essence and emotionally impacted the people who watched it. That short film was titled “Citrus Love”, and it tells the story of a tangerine in a frustrating pursuit of love.
Before recording the film, I only had a few minutes to sit down and think about possible ideas that I could execute, but once I went out, recording was a natural and unconscious process. Working alone made me feel more comfortable with the idea of buying a bunch of fruits and rolling them on the ground, and I felt absolutely no judgments, just peace and freedom while I exercised my emotions and creativity. This freedom was what allowed me to be more creative, and ultimately produce something that had my essence embedded in it, without intrusive and negative inputs from others. If I feel like I am providing my spirit into whatever I am creating, almost like that creation is a child of mine, then I know I have successfully used my creativity in it.
